Kitchen Assistant

The Wellington is seeking a part time kitchen assistant to work alternating weekends.

Responsibilities: The Kitchen Assistant will assist in food preparation and high quality dining services that takes into account resident preferences and dietary considerations in compliance with applicable food and sanitation regulations. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.

Qualifications: Kitchen experience preferred, but not required. Experience within the hospitality field. Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.

Working conditions: Works in a sometimes hot and humid and sometimes cold kitchen area. Area may become congested and noisy during busy times. Works with stoves, griddle, steam cookers, refrigerators, food mixers, food processors, meat slicers, dishwashing equipment, sinks, knives, and various utensils, pots and pans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist staff in the production of all menu items, operating kitchen equipment, portioning and garnishing.
2. Assists in preparation of food presentation, and serving meals to residents.
3. Assists in safe food handling procedures with special emphasis on critical control temperatures.
4. Assist in monitoring food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking, and service of all phases of foods served. Assist in monitoring the labeling and proper storage of all foods. Assist in monitoring and recording temperatures of all kitchen refrigerators and freezers daily.
5. Assists in maintaining the preventative maintenance program for kitchen equipment.
6. Immediately reports to maintenance any malfunction in equipment or physical plant.
7. Demonstrates proper use of equipment, utensils, and cleaning supplies.
8. Assists in maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and dining area.
9. Works as a team member to maintain a pleasant, effective work environment.
10. Participates in and supports the resident-centered activity program.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Salary: $8.00 to $8.50 per hour.
Reports to: Kitchen Manager
